Mr. Steve Boda

November 20, 1954 - April 23, 2022

Steve passed away peacefully at the age of 67, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. His final moments were spent at home surrounded by his loved ones. Steve believed in living each day to the fullest and never took a moment for granted. In 1954, Steve was born in Budapest, Hungary. At the age of two, he escaped with his father, mother and older brother from the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. His early childhood was spent in New Brunswick, NJ before the family finally made Highland Park, NJ their home. Steve graduated from Highland Park High school. He enjoyed playing baseball and learning the art of golf. Steve earned his bachelor’s in Economics at Rutgers University in 1976. He was proud to spend four years as the lightweight kicker for the Scarlet Knights football team. His love for his alma mater was obvious to anyone who knew him. Steve was a season ticket holder for both Rutgers Football and Basketball and never missed a game. He later passed on that passion to his two daughters, creating the next generation of Rutgers fanatics. Steve attended Dickinson Law School in Carlisle Pa. Upon passing the bar, he started his legal career in the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office. In 1984, Steve opened his own business and the Steven J Boda Esq. Law office officially opened its doors in Edison, NJ (later relocating to Highland Park, NJ). One of the great joys in Steve’s life was his love for all things Bruce Springsteen. There wasn’t a day where his music was playing through the speakers of his car or computer. He owned every CD, Book, and t-shirt. He went to every concert and show that he could. Two of Steve's favorite passions were golf and his Thursday night poker game. If you were looking for Steve on any given weekend, chances were high that he was on the green. Steve was a gentle man who touched all that knew him with his warmth, kindness, and great sense of humor. His thoughtful, and caring personality made him an excellent husband, father, son, and friend. His hardworking nature, tenacity, and unparalleled determination made him a diligent lawyer and business owner. Steve is predeceased by his loving parents, Ernest and Ella Boda. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Ruth; his two beautiful daughters Allie and Carly, his brother Gabor Boda, his beloved nieces and nephews and his loyal canine companion Jasper. He will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral service will be held at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple (222 Livingston Ave, New Brunswick, NJ 08901) on Tuesday April 26th 2022 at 11 am. Burial will held immediately after the service at Elmwood Cemetery(425 Georges Rd North Brunswick, NJ 08902). Shiva to follow immediately after burial at the home(21 Cromwell Lane, Jackson, NJ 08527) as well as Wednesday(4/27) 2pm-5pm with a service at the home at 7pm and on Thursday (4/28) at 2pm-5pm with no evening service. Memorial Contributions may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society at braintumor.org.
