Selma Zimmerman Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Selma Zimmerman, mother of Michael Zimmerman, Debbie Ceci and her husband Jeff, Lori Walenty and her husband Michael and grandmother to Brandon Walenty departed this life peacefully on January 16, 2022. Selma was born June 4, 1936 in Hillside, New Jersey. In 1954, Selma graduated from Hillside High School. After graduation she attended The Berkeley School and worked as a legal secretary. In November 1956, Selma married the love of her life M Lee Zimmerman. They lived most of their married life with their children in North Brunswick later relocating to Monroe Township, New Jersey. She worked at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple as well as University of Medicine and Dentistry New Jersey where she was an administrative assistant / senior manager for 20+ years and retired in 2002. Selma loved spending time with her family whether it be family vacations down the Jersey Shore or hosting family barbeques and gatherings at their home. She enjoyed going to theatrical productions, playing mahjong with her friends and reading a good book. Selma was preceded in death by her sister Betty Silver and her brother Joe Silver as well as her husband. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to American Cancer Society in Selma’s name. A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday January 18th, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ. The family will also have Zoom Shiva from 7:00 to 9:00 pm on Tuesday January 18th , 2022 with a service at 7:00 pm.
