Mrs. Rose V Keresztes

October 31, 1948 — June 25, 2021

Rose Keresztes entered eternal life on Friday, June 25, 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson
University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. Rose was 72 years old.
She was born in Totszentmarton, Hungary and resided in Highland Park, NJ for many years.
Rose completed two years of advanced clerical study and became an administrative assistant in
the Microbiology Department at Rutgers University where she worked for several years. Rose
met many friends there and retired in 2015.
She was a congregant of St. Ladislaus Church, New Brunswick, NJ for many years and was a
former scoutmaster for the Hungarian Scouts. Rose was also actively involved in the Hungarian
American Athletic Club (HAAC) fencing club in New Brunswick. Among some of her hobbies she
enjoyed gardening, baking and reading. She was also enthusiastic about traveling and
especially going on cruises and cross country road trips. You could count on Rose watching
Jeopardy every night. It was one of her favorite programs.
Rose was also devoted to her family - spending time with her family was the most important,
enjoyable and cherished part of her life. She was the number one cheerleader for her 13
grandchildren at all of their events and activities. Nothing made her happier than attending the
festivities of her grandchildren. She was a devoted grandmother.
Predeceased by her parents Steven (Istvan) and Mary (Rodek) Vari she is survived by her
loving husband of 49 years, Joseph Keresztes of Highland Park,NJ. She will be dearly missed
by her daughters, Kristina Tomahatsch and son-in-law, Bela of Highland Park, NJ and Andrea
Ramos and son-in-law Mark of Little Egg Harbor, NJ. Her two sons, Adam Keresztes and his
wife Cristina of Howell, NJ and David Keresztes and daughter-in-law Melissa of Eatontown, NJ
will also miss her presence in their lives. Rose leaves three sisters, Irene Chalupa of North
Carolina, Ida Salopek of Flemington, NJ and Agnes Vannucci and her husband, Lawrence of
Whitehouse Station, NJ. Surviving also are her 13 cherished grandchildren who she adored and
loved.
Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to
9:00pm at the Gowen Funeral Home, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ. A Mass of
Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 10:00am at St. Ladislaus
Church, 215 Somerset Street, New Brunswick,NJ followed by a service at Franklin Memorial
Park, 1800 Route 27, North Brunswick, NJ. A private service will take place at Brigadier General
William Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ
