Richard A Mumber, 79, of Piscataway, NJ passed away August 6, 2021 in Goose Creek, South Carolina surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born in New Brunswick, NJ to Helen M. McLaughlin Mumber and Peter A. Mumber on November 1, 1941. He graduated from Saint Peter’s H.S. and Rutger’s University in New Brunswick. He married his high school sweetheart, Darlene T. Mumber, on January 29, 1966 in St. Ladislaus Church, New Brunswick. He worked as a Chemist in Product Development and as the Quality Control Manager for both Permacel and Ethicon, Johnson & Johnson companies, until he retired. He is an Army Veteran who served in the Army Reserve for six years during the Vietnam war doing photo reconnaissance of combat areas.

Richard was involved in many organizations, some of which were Knights of Columbus, Marriage Encounter and Retrouvaille. He was also a Eucharistic Minister who felt so blessed when bringing communion to the homebound.

Richard is predeceased by his parents, Peter A. and Helen M. Mumber. Richard is survived by his wife, Darlene T. Miller Mumber, daughters, Pegeen E. Mumber and Kathleen Renee Fiala of Goose Creek, SC, son, Richard David Mumber and wife Kelly of Manville, NJ, grandchildren, Darlene VanClief Pinckney & husband Jordon, Christopher R., Lauren N., & Michael A. Fiala, and Michelle & Derek Mumber, great-grandson, Brayden, and brother, John F. Mumber & wife, Linda of Allendale, NJ.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 11, 2021, from 3 PM to 8 PM at Gowen Funeral Home, 239 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM, August 12, 2021 in St. Frances Cabrini Church RC, 208 Bound Brook Ave., Piscataway, NJ. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Wounded Warriors Organization.
