Mrs. Paulina O'Neill-Cruz

June 6, 1937 — September 20, 2021

East Brunswick, NJ

Mrs. Paulina O'Neill-Cruz, 84, entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 20, 2021 at her home in East Brunswick. Born and raised in Guayama, Puerto Rico, she came to Brooklyn, NY in 1963 and has been residing in East Brunswick for the past 35 years.

Paulina started out working as a clerk-typist, (when typing was important), in the banking industry. Starting out at Chemical Bank in NYC, then later at Midlantic Bank headquarters in Paterson, which eventually became PNC Bank. After retiring from banking in 1999, Paulina kept herself quite busy by starting her own tax return business, delivering newspapers and helping clients with analyzing and translating various documents.
She was known to all, to be the one to call for help with any business problem that they didn't understand or know how to handle.

In her spare time, Paulina enjoyed gathering with her family, cooking and listening to music. Family day trips, which included swimming, fishing, cooking on the grill and having fun on the beach or other picnic areas, was her idea of fun. Even after retirement, Paulina always worked out and tried to stay active. In her younger days, her daily routine included at least a half hour of working out with Jack La Lane.

Paulina, in her own way, stood up for and was always pushing up women, through her encouragement, to stand up for their rights. She helped many women who were in abusive situations. And was a very outspoken person. Before it was fashionable, she told everyone, "Love yourself, believe in yourself, don't let anyone stop you from doing what's best for you!"

Predeceased by her parents , Inocencio Colon and Joaquina Morales, and this past October, 2020, her husband, Jose O'Neill-Cruz. She is survived by her daughters, Pavin Aixa Gonzalez, Milagros Gonzalez-Torres, Charlene Marino and Linda Rosario, her 8 grandchildren, her 8 great grandchildren, her sister Rufy Montes and her brothers Francisco (Paco) Colon, Jose (Cuco) Colon-Morales and Catalino Colon-Morales.
