Mrs Nellie Mae (Bolden) Williams

October 1, 1928 — March 26, 2018

Nellie Mae Bolden Williams went from labor to her eternal reward on March 26, 2018 at St. Peter’s Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Nellie was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on October 1, 1928, daughter and oldest child of Shadie and Katherine Bolden. She attended the Tuscaloosa County School system and graduated from Stillman Institute (currently known as Stillman College) in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Following her graduation, Nellie moved to New Brunswick, NJ and obtained employment with E.R. Squibb & Sons, where she worked in various capacities until she retired in 1993.

She married Warren D. Williams in 1953 and to that union three sons were born. Nellie was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister and her loving generosity and willingness to sacrifice for others made a great difference in the lives of those she encountered. She was especially dedicated to her family, a trait she exhibited at an early age.

Nellie confessed her faith in Christ as a child at Beautiful Zion AME Zion Church, in Tuscaloosa Alabama and later became a long-time member of Mt. Zion AME Church in New Brunswick, New Jersey where she proudly served on the Stewardess Board.

She was preceded in death by Warren, Sr. her husband of over 50 years; a brother, Shadie, Jr; and two sisters, Leona Bolden and Bessie Bolden Hines.

Nellie leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Warren Jr. (Martha) of Tuscaloosa, AL; Reginald (Michelle) of Red Oak, TX; and Erskine “Dee Dee” of New Brunswick, NJ; a sister Catherine Bolden Dancy of Clinton MD, four brothers, Alonzo Bolden (Alma Jean) of Tuscaloosa, AL; Jesse Bolden (Odessa) of Compton, CA; George Bolden (Velmaree) of Dallas, TX and James (Annie Ruth) of Dallas, TX; Eleven grandchildren; Thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of dear relatives and friends.
Visiting will take place Friday, April 6, 2018 at the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral Service at the Mt. Zion AME Church, 39 Morris Street, New Brunswick, NJ on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 10 am. Interment Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick, NJ.
