February 3, 1932 - May 10, 2021

Huntingdon Valley, PA Mrs. Mary Ann Kerekes, 89, formerly of Somerset, NJ passed away at her son, Thomas' home in Huntingdon Valley. PA, on Monday, May 10, 2021. She was born and raised in Perth Amboy, NJ, raised her family in Somerset, NJ and has been living in Huntingdon Valley, PA for the past six years. Mary Ann was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School. She was employed as a bookkeeper with Merchant Credit in Perth Amboy for 12 years. She was a congregant of St. Michael's Byzantine Greek Catholic Church in Perth Amboy for many years. Upon her living in Somerset, Mary Ann became a very active congregant of St. Ladislaus Roman Catholic Church in New Brunswick. While her two sons were growing up, Mary Ann was a member of the St. Ladislaus School PTA and the St. Joseph's High School in Metuchen, NJ, Mothers Club, as well as the Hungarian Scouts. For twenty years of her life, she was the Secretary and Bookkeeper for St. Ladislaus Roman Catholic Church, retiring many years ago. Mary Ann was the Matriarch of her family and a devout Catholic. An avid reader, she loved the NY Yankees, and truly enjoyed entertaining, especially for all the holidays. Predeceased by her parents, John and Mary (Silvaney) Torok, her sisters, Lillian Barney, Dorothy Schmidt, Jean Gloff and her husband, John Kerekes, Jr., Mary Ann will be dearly missed by her Loving sons and daughters-in-law, John and Wendy Kerekes, of Franklin Park, NJ and Thomas and Alison Kerekes, of Huntingdon Valley, PA, her cherished grandchildren, Alexandra and Thomas Kerekes and her dear brother and sister-in-law, John and Enid Torok. of Hillsborough, NJ. Family and friends may call on Friday, May 21, 2021, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Gowen Funeral Home, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 10 am at St. Ladislaus Roman Catholic Church, 215 Somerset Street, New Brunswick, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Covenant House or to St. Vincent de Paul Society at a church of your choice.
