Ketter W. "Kelly" Gardner, 77, was born on February 2, 1940 in Columbus, MS to Levie C. (Williams) and Eddie Gardner. Kelly was also raised by his stepmom Mary (Holden) Gardner. He lived for many years inew Jersey before returning to Indianapolis, IN.
Those who knew Ketter "Kelly" Gardner, knew how funny he was and his great skills as a Barber. He was employed as a supervisor for Ford Motor Company for many years prior to attending New York Barber School.
He was much loved, had many laughs and traveled with those in his closed circle. Kelly was known for throwing those hands in the street or in the ring. He knew many famous people, like Larry Holmes, the boxer, Rick James, the musician, and the parliament to name a few. Kelly will be remembered for his voice and all of his far out sayings. Everyone called him Big Piece. He was a jokester.
On February 6, 2017 angels were dispatched to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis to receive Kelly from his long suffering here on earth and carry him back home to his creator.
Kelly loved his family very dearly and was sadden by the passing of his parents Levie )Williams) and Eddie Gardner, his companion and friend of twenty years, Mary (Holden) Gardner, his four brothers MacArthur, Harry and Bruce Gardner and Samuel Stephens, his five sisters Catherine Okezie, Gloria Ann Smith, Isabella, Celestine and Tiffany Gardner and his grandson Antione Gardner.
Kelly leaves behind to mourn him, four daughters, Dorene Ruffin, Priscilla Gardner, Kelly Isaacs Kimmy and Christine, his two sons Tracy Spann and Craig Robinson, his two sisters Ruth Francis and Bessie Gardner, his three brothers Jessie and Clifford Gardner and Robert Moore, his five grandchildren Craig Mayo, Eboni Robinson, Jakea Gardner, Erika Smith and Brandon Silvespre and his six great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear relatives and friends. Ketter will be greatly missed by all, especially by his care givers Damita Jaffe and Becky Pryor, who each had a very unique and special relationship with him.
