Mr. Jose M. O'Neill-Cruz, 73, passed away peacefully at the Park Place Care Center in Monmouth Junction, NJ on Monday evening, October 19, 2020. Born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, Jose came to New York City at the age of fourteen.
Jose is a NYC High School graduate. He was employed many years as a machine operator-foreman with Schweitzer-Mauduit International, Inc. in Spotswood, NJ.
He, along with his brothers formed a band, Jose was the percussionist. Jose was a shopper....everyone knew him at the local Dollar Stores and Walmart in East Brunswick area. In his younger years, Jose played softball until his children were of age and he became their coach in several different sports.
Jose loved to go fishing. He taught each of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren how to fish.
He found time to draw and paint as well as doing the gardening. Jose could fix anything imaginable. When he would relax, Jose enjoyed a good cold beer.
Predeceased by his parents Isidoro O'Neill and Dorothea (Ana Rivera) Cruz, he is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Paulina O'Neill-Cruz, his loving children, who gave him the title "best father & father-n-law", Pavin A. Gonzalez, Milagros Gonzalez-Torres, Charlene Marino and Linda Rosario, his cherished grandchildren Jose A. Gonzalez, Gabriel A. Gonzalez, Albert Marino, Jr., Ariella Woolridge, Christopher Marino, Antonio Rosario, Gianna Torres and Alexia Rosario, his great grandchildren, Isaiah G. Gonzalez, Albert David Marino, Ryleigh M. Marino, Isabella M. Gonzalez, Alexzander Marino, Gabriel A. Gonzalez, Jr., Victor Gonzalez and Melady Marino, his dear brothers, Chanti Rosario, Victor Rosario, Felix Ortiz and two other brothers in Puerto Rico, Johnny and Israel O'Neill.
Visiting will take place on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 2 - 4 pm & 6 - 8 pm at the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ. Funeral Service will follow on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Entombment Frost Woods Memorial Park, East Brunswick, NJ.
