Jeanne Ratet Zankel, of Edison, NJ passed away at home on Friday, October 23, 2020. She was 89. Born in New Brunswick, she lived most of her life in Edison. Jeanne was a retired librarian, having worked at the Westfield Memorial Library for many years. After having received a Bachelors degree from Douglass College, she earned her Masters Degree in Library Science at Rutgers University. She was fun loving and enjoyed painting, travel, cooking, bridge and was an avid gardener, having been an officer of the Edison Garden Club for many years. She was also a longstanding member of the Highland Park Conservative Temple and the American Association of University Women, New Brunswick chapter.
Surviving are her husband, Nathan Zankel, her sister Patricia Edelglass of Pompano Beach, FL, her three children Paul Zankel (Nancy) of East Brunswick, NJ, Richard A. Zankel (Mindy) of Goodyear, AZ and Phyllis Zankel Coyne (Patrick) of Monroe Township, NJ, and four grandchildren, Ezra, Aaron, Sam and Michael.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for the planting of trees in Israel in Jeanne’s memory with the Jewish National Fund, www.jnf.org/trees .
