Mrs Hermina Guman

December 28, 1919 - July 7, 2013

Hermina Elizabeth Guman passed away Sunday, July 7th at the age of 93 with her family at her bedside. Born on December 28th, 1919 in the coal town of McAdoo, PA. She grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to New City where she worked as a governess and later met John W. Guman. She traveled to Harlingen, TX to marry him when he was serving in the US Army Air Corp. They lived in Maryland, South Dakota, Florida and later settled in New Jersey where they started a family. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and cooking family meals and caring for her grandchildren. She was a helper in all sense of the word; always by John's side and there for everyone when they needed help or advice. She played the violin in her early years and enjoyed music until her last few days on earth. She even heard some Bing Crosby in the past few weeks and was still able to sing along with the lyrics. She was a loving mother and grandmother and is survived by her two children, John A. Guman and Hermina R. Connors, and grandchildren Brigit, Diana and Thomas and a great-grandson, Craig Jr. She will be fondly remember by her friends and neighbors for the long stories she would tell of tender and sometime comical memories, which she could always summon to relate to something current. She will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation will take place at the Gowen Funeral Home, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ on Friday, July 12th from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral Mass at the St Ladislaus RC Church, 215 Somerset Street, New Brunswick, NJ.
