Mrs Dorothy Bucholtz

June 13, 1924 - January 11, 2019

Hillsborough, NJ Mrs. Dorothy (Gorman) Bucholtz, 94, passed away at the Foothill Acres Nursing & Rehab Center, Hillsborough, NJ on Friday, January 11, 2019. Born in Brooklyn, NY, grew up in Queens and raised her family on Long Island. Dorothy had also lived in Rhode Island, Illinois, Rochester, NY and Sarasota, FL before coming to New Jersey. Dorothy was an accomplished Textile Artist and beader. She enjoyed making and selling her own style of jewelry.Dorothy was a master knitter, and a talented needlepoint artist and enjoyed teaching others her crafts. She worked for a time with the Red Cross. Along with her husband, Perry, she owned an apparel shop, where she was able to be the merchandiser and buyer, and later owned a needlepoint shop. Dorothy sang in synagogue choir in Long Island and performed in community musicals. She enjoyed gardening, especially her rose garden and rock garden. Dorothy loved nature. Dorothy played bridge and was a member of her neighborhood "Koffee klatch" - an early version of a women's support group - for 45 years. She devoted herself to her family and friends. Many of her nieces and nephews, as well as her friends' children called her their "second mother". Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Rose (Schulman) Gorman, her five brothers and sisters and her husband Perry, (2004), she is survived by her loving children Ronnie and her husband Lewin Weyl, Carol and her husband Rob Meyerson, and Alan Bucholtz and his wife Joni, and her cherished grandchildren, Benjamin and his wife Debbie; Jeremy; Daniel and his husband Danny; Jennifer and her husband Aleksey; David and his wife Jenn; and Joshua; and her great granddaughter Zoe. Funeral service will be held at the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 238 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 10 am. Interment will follow at Mt. Ararat Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY. Donations made in memory of Dorothy Bucholtz can be made to the Alzheimer Foundation of America : alzfdn.org/support-us/donate/
