Eulogy
Darnise Michelle White was born on May 13th, 1965 at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. Darnise grew up raised in the Bronx, NY on Sedgewick Ave, attending Evander Childs Highschool. Finding her passion for swimming, she joined the swim team winning many awards and swim meets. She was a dolphin at heart. Darnise further her education and attended Lehman College receiving an Associates Degree.
Darnise was a strong, beautiful person with a sweet soul. She was an extremely hard worker, working at the World Trade Center for many years, later becoming one of the top billing administrators at Montefiore. She also gave back to the less fortunate and spent time working at the Pine Health nursing in Greensboro, NC. She made residents feel at home, blossoming every room with lavender. She would go out her way to help family, friends and sometimes even strangers!
Darnise loved to crochet and read novels by authors Stephen King or James Patterson but, the Bible was always her number one to go too. She was a woman of Faith who always believed. She had a beautiful smile and a kind heart. So many leaned on her; never judging a book by its cover. Darnise always walked with her head held high no matter the obstacles she faced.
A little comedian always made jokes and loved to laugh even on the hardest days. Her beautiful voice filled any room always singing her heart out to Teddy Pendergrass “When somebody loves you back,” or her favorite artist Janet Jackson “Miss you much” or “That’s the way love goes” and the list goes on. She loved music; any floor was her stage and she could dance the night away. Darnise loved to take long walks finding beauty in nature. She is now resting in Peace with our Lord and truly will be missed. Her flesh may be flawed, but her spirit was pure. Heaven gained a new angel.
She is survived by two daughters Darnise LaRae Gilbert and Damaris Elizabeth Whitley. She has three grand children Elijah Daniel Gilbert, Destiny Jasmin Gilbert, and Isaiah Rawles. She is survived by her mother Ruth Elizabeth White, her brothers Dwayne Gregory White, Jefferey Allen White, her sister Renee Elizabeth White. She has six aunts, two uncles with countless extended cousins We thank everyone for their prayers and support through this difficult time.
