Sanford Allen "Sandy" Gurtov, 83, died Friday morning at the Care One of East Brunswick. Born in Newark, NJ, Mr. Gurtov had resided in Roselle and North Brunswick before moving to Monroe.
Mr. Gurtov had been a salesman for his entire career before retiring in 1997. Very active socially, community wise and politically, wherever he lived. Sandy was a member of the Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, New Brunswick where he had been a youth group advisor. While living in North Brunswick, he was a mayoral candidate, served as a member of Fire Company #3 as a dispatcher, member of Youth Soccer League and Broadway Players and many numerous other organizations. Since moving to Monroe, he sang in his chorus at The Ponds and was very active in STARZ.
Son of the late Sidney and Ruth (Sternlicht) Gurtov, he is survived by the love of his life his wife, Hannah (Borkan) Gurtov, his children and their spouses, David and Beth Gurtov, of Glendale, CO, Hilary and Rick Dambach, of Milford, PA, his sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Gerald Fishelberg, of Monroe, NJ, his granddaughter Marisa Dambach and his nephews and their spouses Jason and Reiko Fishelberg and Jeremy and Andrea Fishelberg.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017 at noon at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, 222 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ. Interment to follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made to AEMT or to your favorite charity.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ.
