Leonardo Misuraca, 91, passed away on Monday evening, December 26, 2016 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was born and raised in Ribera, Italy and came to the United States in 1960, settling in Linden, NJ. After living in Linden for several years , Leonardo moved his family to New Brunswick before moving to his final residence in New Brunswick many years ago.
He was employed as a tailor with Carlin Clothes in Elizabeth, NJ for many years, retiring in 1990. Leonardo started his career in tailoring with Bonds Clothing in New Brunswick.
Leonardo was a long time congregant of St. Mary of Mount Virgin RC Church, New Brunswik.
As his family and friends would says, Leonardo had golden hands, everything he touched or did was a miracle. He enjoyed gardening, and baking cookies and cakes. Leonardo loved the “shore”, watching wrestling, dancing and socializing at many different affairs.
Leonardo was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Filippa (Urso) Misuraca, his brothers and sisters and his beloved wife of57 years, Carmela (Vitanza) Misuraca, he is surivived his devoted children Joseph & Barbara Misuraca, Alfonso and Linda Misuraca and Filippa (Fina) Sica, his cherished grandchildren, Anthony and his wife Mitzi, Theresa and Mike, Cheryl and her husband Bill Schmitt, Jennifer, Alfonso, Jr., Ross, Martin and Maria.
Family and friends may call at the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, December 28th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday at 10 am Thursday, December 29th at St. Mary’s of Mount Virgin RC Church ( Parish of the Visitation) , Remsen Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ. Entombment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery and Mausoleum, Route 27 (Somerset Street), New Brunswick, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leonardo's memory to the St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
