Mr. Karel Nelidin, 86, passed away at the Willow Creek Rehab and Nursing Center in Somerset on Monday, September 4, 2017. He was born in Eisden, Belgium and came to the United States in January, 1958. Karel has been living in Somerset for many years.

Karel was employed by several companies as a drywall construction engineer during his lifetime.

He was a congregant for over 60 years at St. Ladislaus RC Church, (Holy Family Parish), New Brunswick. Karel was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Ladislaus RC Church and participated in the making of the Kalacs during the holiday seasons.

He was predeceased by his parents Micheal and Barbara (Szkoklik) Nelidin and his sister and brother-in-law Elisa and Bela Toth. Karel will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Maria "Mickey" (Houben) Nelidin, his loving daughters Christine and her husband Kort Masteller, of Strongsville, OH and Janet McArdle, of Somerset, NJ, his cherished grandsons Michael and Brian Masteller and John Martin, II, Patrick and Christopher McArdle, his dear brother and sister-in-law Laszlo and Christa Nelidin, of Pennsylvania. A special thank you to his niece Theresa Toth and all the brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in Belgium plus all the nieces and nephews for their support tthe years.

Family and friends may call at the Gowen Funeral Home, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ on Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 4-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 9:30 am at St. Ladislaus RC Church, (Holy Family Parish), 215 Somerset Street, New Brunswick, NJ. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick, NJ.

For those desiring, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Adult Day Care Center of Somerset County, 872 E. Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807 or to the Alzheimer's Association.
