Joan C. (Gutman) Mintz, 66, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013 at the University Medical Center at Princeton, Plainsboro, NJ with her family by her side. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and has lived in the South Brunswick and Monroe areas of NJ for 35 years.

Joan recently retired from the South Brunswick Board of Education having served as a para-professional for many years. She was very involved in the planning and teaching of children's art programs. Even while living with cancer, Joan continued to work and make an impact on her students, inspiring them to explore and develop creativity. Her artwork and memory live on at the website http://namesforhope.com , launching summer 2013, and will allow the public to create and purchase her famous "children's name signs" with proceeds going to cancer related causes in her name.

Joan was predeceased by her parents Henry and Margot (Meyer) Gutman and her dear sister Evie Port. She will be missed by her beloved husband of 43 years Marc Mintz, her loving children, Jodi and Eric Pianka and Michael and Esther Mintz, her cherished grand children, Drew Pianka, Shoshana, Gilad, Margalit and Ori-El Mintz, her dear sister Karen Yager, her six nieces and one nephew.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 5th at 11:00am at the Crabielw Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ. Interment will follow at Floral Park in South Brunswick Twp., NJ. In lieu of Shiva, the family will be holding a Memorial at the Palmer House of Princeton University after the burial service.
